Steven Rosen of Ukrainian and Polish heritage was born in Lodz, Poland and moved to the United States at a young age. He began trumpet studies at eight years of age with Dr. Jack Coleman, a former member of the NBC and Twentieth Century Fox Orchestras. His conducting studies included work with Hans Beer at the University of Southern California and Atilio Poto (a protégé of Serge Koussevitsky and Leon Barzin, and a former member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra), along with extensive master-classes with: Sergiu Comissiona, Lenoard Slatkin and Michael Tilson Thomas. After completing a Bachelor of Music Degree at the Boston Conservatory of Music, Mr. Rosen received a Conducting Fellowship to attend the Graduate School at the Indiana University School of Music, and was chosen by Leonard Bernstein for private conducting study after observing Mr. Rosen in a series of master-classes.

Dividing his time between the United States and abroad, Mr. Rosen has conducted more than 2,000 performances, which include: Symphonic Concerts, Pops, Opera, Ballet, Music Festivals and Educational Concerts. Currently, he holds the title of Principal Guest Conductor of the New Queen’s Hall Orchestra of London. Living in the Los Angeles area, Mr. Rosen has also accumulated a great deal of experience in the recording studio, not only as a producer, but also as a trumpet performer. His other passion is film music, and he was engaged as the Music Supervisor (which entailed constructing the entire soundtrack) for the independent film: “Snowflakes of Gold,” a short film about a famous yearly toboggan race in Pennsylvania.

Some of the many orchestras Steven Rosen has conducted include: Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina, Orchestra Sinfonica dell’ Emilia Romagna “Arturo Toscanini,” Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Kennedy Center Opera Orchestra, Dallas Opera Orchestra, San Antonio Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Fort Worth Chamber Orchestra, Aspen Music Festival Orchestra, Boise “Summerfest” Orchestra, Sacramento Chamber Orchestra, Colorado Springs Symphony, Cuchara Music Festival Orchestra, New World Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Colorado Ballet Orchestra, Boise Philharmonic and the Sacramento Symphony Orchestra.

A winner of multiple international conducting competitions and fellowships, Steven Rosen was one of four finalists in the prestigious “Toscanini International Conductor’s Competition,” and was the only American Conductor chosen to tour with the “Orchestra Sinfonica dell’ Emilia Romagna Arturo Toscanini” throughout Italy. Mr. Rosen also claimed first prize in the “International Competition for Conductors” sponsored by the Jerusalem Radio Symphony Orchestra, and subsequently was invited to return to conduct a number of concert series, which received critical acclaim. In addition to his current position with the New Queen’s Hall Orchestra, Steven Rosen has held Music Director positions with the Fort Worth Dallas Ballet, Idaho’s “Summerfest,” Colorado’s “Cuchara Music Festival” (which he was instrumental in creating), along with a Resident Conductor position with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. During his tenure in Fort Worth, Steven Rosen created the highly successful and popular concert series: “Dimensions,” a series devoted to promote the works and talents of “American Composers.”
